By Republican logic, I think that means that God hates the GOP.

I couldn't resist... started using it yesterday. I'm tying my "chores" to my weekly allowance (er, budget, in grown-up land) for things like groceries, lunch out, happy hour with friends, shopping, etc. I think I have the point thing set up so that even if I do no chores at all but manage to brush my teeth and feed

Um... does this app work for adults? Can I set it up and give myself points for doing the dishes and laundry, or hell, even just remembering to take my pills in the morning? Has anyone tried this?

Man, I can totally picture this. Every CPC will have a small crowd of protesters out front with billboards and signs covered in facts and infographics about pregnant women's legal rights to access medical care (prenatal and pregnancy-ending alike) and what services these clinic-impersonator things do and do not

I'm glad we agree that the rapists are the problem, and I do agree that the airline policy sucks. Other readers (and maybe you as well? this idea came up a lot) have suggested just seating unaccompanied minors in a row by themselves with no other passengers. It's not like this will be a permanent "minors only"

If you don't like the fact that women and children are threatened by strange men, your goal should be to diffuse rape culture. Right now all you're doing is reminding women everywhere that you care more about your own feelings than our safety. Your worst case scenario: you feel shitty sometimes. My worst case

Thank you for speaking up. Veit is getting mad at the wrong people, and nobody seems to be getting through to him, so maybe your words had some impact.

We need to teach our sons that when women negotiate, they're showing ambition and drive, not just being selfish bitches. (And it probably wouldn't hurt to teach our daughters that, too.)

Yeah, I know he is, but dammit if I don't fall for this trap every time: http://xkcd.com/386/

This reasoning is crap because most companies don't have a corporate budget that says "We have the budget for X female employees and Y male employees because X costs us less than Y." Managers have tons of discretion over the amount they offer new hires or the size of raises and bonuses.

WHAT? No. MN's cheese curds are wonderful.

Thank you for making this distinction. So many people are jumping on the "Oh, but the hat over the hijab doesn't invalidate the hijab!" bandwagon. It's not about whether the hat over the hijab is in keeping with how she practices her religion. It's about companies making a hostile work environment for some

I hope he was afraid to ever speak in public again. Who the hell did he think he was? Good on your law school class :)

Where exactly did the author specify that she worked as a prostitute in a location where prostitution was illegal? It's possible that she only worked when she was in Oaxaca, or if she was in the US, she was in the right parts of Nevada.

So... do you have any recommendations for brands of condoms that don't come pre-lubed with glycerin and parabens, but that still offer a range of sizes?

Ugh. The male-dominated field. Your situation sounds terrible. Catering? Really? Feminine volatility? Like they never added or changed their research interests.

"if you take *any* time off, the university considers you to have quit the program and you must reapply TO THE UNIVERSITY ITSELF in order to be reinstated"

LaChavalina's story isn't an exaggeration. It isn't universal, either, but there are distinct relationship challenges for women in academia that seem to come from the societal expectation that men's careers come first.

You and I should talk. I'm going into academia, and I love waffles. What's your story?

You may think the president doesn't matter for reproductive rights. I can see how you'd be so easily confused - you've already demonstrated your inability to think outside your tiny worldview, so let me help you out a little.
