Removing old content like this is going to kill the game. It’s killed every other game that’s ever done it. You do NOT strip content from an online game like this. It kills any reason for players to return and limits content for new players. Coupling this with the sunsetting this game is truly screwed.

There is decades more old games that should get their source code released, no one is using any source code from pre 2000's games and there is a still a modding community for that and that should be release because don’t do it like the japanese where they lost source codes and can’t remaster old games.

The cost of developing one AAA game is so high that they need DLC and season passes to break even and keep the players engaged for as long as they can while a second or even third team pours over feedback and tons of data to figure out what works, what doesn’t and how to best shape the features…

But we live in a world where voice chat is an option. Even if the game does not support it there are alternatives like Discord. Therefore the highest level of play requires voice chat because the best teams will be voice chatting.

I’ve been bringing up the solution to this for years - if a player is not willing to put in the effort to join or form an organized group, they literally are forfeiting their right to complain about the performance of the random people with which a matchmaking system assigns them.
