That's probably because "US citizen" doesn't really roll off the tongue as well as American, and there aren't a lot of other options. In fact I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Hmm I've not got high hopes for it at the moment. I backed it on kickstarter but the early access release was a mess. Just a rather pointless clickfest. I would rather have seen focused upgrades and settlement design with specialised buildings etc., rather than the never ending expansion that was present.
