They replaced entire frames on the previous gen Tacomas when they started rusting on their dime so I don’t see Toyota trying to dodge the cost of the fix.

I read the entire WIRED article and all I can say is I hope they catch this guy someday. They carry out these thefts with impunity. 

I’m more curious about the huge discount. I know that Land Cruisers are selling for 10K to 15K over sticker around my area so I’m surprised the new GX is already being discounted by 7K. I wonder if this is one of the new GXs or a previous gen one.

They are actually pretty popular with younger buyers. A good friend of mine sells Toyotas in Austin and he tells me he has sold a fair share to people from their mid 20s to mid 30s.

I think the Land Cruiser is going to end up being more of an upmarket option. Toyota keeps sayings that it’s going to be at 55K but I think when destination is added along with factory options and distributor options these thing will end up being in the mid 60K range for a base model. It was available since 2018 on Audis but a federal regulation made them remove it because backup cams need to be on a stationary screen. I worked for Audi at the time and I remember the 2018 Audi Q7s having it and it completely going away either 2019 or 2020.

I say get you new Camry or a pre-owned Lexus ES. Both of these are bullet proof and while they are not the most exciting thing in the world they are super comfortable to drive. They will also be well within the 35K range.
