NOTHING justifies the sort of behavior targeting Rapp, Sarkeesian, Quinn, Wu and others. Nothing. This is criminal behavior and should be treated like so. I really hope the day comes when people who keeps harassing others with no good reasons gets locked up away from society, a place these people don’t belong anyways.

They’re fucking obsessed. Shit, I’m damn sure they probably STILL go on about Anita Sarkeesian. They certainly fucking were when I finally got away from dealing with them.

It’s really pathetic and disgusting how awful people can be. This is nothing more than a modern Salem witch trial, or Spanish inquisition, or McCarthy hearings, only these idiots targeting people feel more empowered behind a wall of anonymity than anyone has interested past. Any lonely little douchebag can easy

One point I want to make, though. For the great sin of covering this topic, the personal details of my family have been investigated, with harassers finding ways to target us in real-life. That we cannot even have a discussion without such extremes shows how toxic this has all become.

I’m tired. I’m so tired. I’m so angry, and I’m tired of being angry, all about how hard some people will go to truly try to hurt others. Rapp has done nothing wrong, in spite of all of these out-of-context tweets about pornography and allegations about sex work. I can't imagine what this must be like for her and her

Quite interesting.

Very true. Which - again - is why I say that it’s high time to hold the entire community accountable. Gaming culture is and has been toxic for years. And now that the monster we’ve all had a hand in creating has run out of control, it’s our shared obligation to both take responsibility and put it down.

It’s pretty evident that those accused of being “Social Justice Warriors” are the Left, and that people who identify with Gamer Gate are almost invariably right-wing.

I actually just made that hashtag up to illustrate a point. Though for all I know it’s a real thing. Hell, it probably is.

The crazy part is that the harassers targeting Allison Rapp (and now Klepek as well) think of themselves as free speech advocates. Yet they are asking for Rapp to be fired for a college paper and then intimidating a journalist whose coverage does not suit their whims. None of that has anything to do with free speech,

The fact that they’ve continued going after her even after her firing puts the lie to the idea that they were motivated by concerns over localization or the subject of her thesis.

Patrick, you’re doing damn fine reporting for continuing to follow up on this. I had no idea folks were still looking into Allison or the second job. I kind of figured, if that info ever came out, we’d be beyond this onto the next story. But you’ve kept it up and have continued to fairly look at all the angles.

it’s so disgusting, and near rage inducing to see what great lengths these giant man babies have to go through in order to “purify” their precious safe haven of those that they deem not worthy to be there, or those that fight to remove their 2d sex objects.

Nintendo could have handled it better regardless of who is right or wrong.

If I can’t fap to loli boobs while I am playing my game then allison rapp should personally apologize to me for having nothing to do with the boob slider being removed. THIS IS OUTRAGE. /s

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, gamers are awful people.

well, since she said she was fired because of the attacks and controversy that was targeted at her, it would have been a good thing to call Nintendo out on. A company has to protect their employees, not let them go when it might affect their image.
It just was an already absolutely horrible situation, and it wasn’t

This happens on both the gamer side and the SJW side. Like many emotionally driven topics, there’s extremists on both sides, whether or not an article makes that clear.

If Nintendo received evidence of Rapp’s second job from her harassers, they should have ignored it, even if it would normally have been grounds for dismissal, on the Fruit Of The Poisonous Tree principle.

I can’t believe people mix business(or using a social media profile you would post official work related stuff to) with personal beliefs or photos when posting to the internet. It seems like someone is getting fired all the time for posting stuff to the internet and then having it linked back to their real life job
