My school’s sex ed was very traditional insofar is it was not about sexuality or identity, it was about anatomy, reproduction, and disease control. We were taught about condoms in 7th grade the way we were taught about hand-washing in kindergarten. We learned about erections shortly after we dissected a heart and…
Yes, I do think it starts younger than people acknowledge with boys and girls probably about equally. Both explore themselves and find interesting things their bodies can do very young. But people often feel more comfortable talking about it in relation to boys, because boys are socialized to be the expected…
“I wanted our children to grow up and remain children as long as possible.”
Yes. As I noted in a comment above, I was masturbating to orgasm when I was nine years old. And I don’t think that’s at all uncommon, particularly for girls (boys get all the hype as being frequent masturbators, but I think girls start in on all that a lot earlier than boys do, on average).

There were people waiting at the airport and cheering as refugees left the plane, holding signs and giving hugs. It’s a nice…
Obama’s response had me tearing up at work. If you haven’t read that full story on HoNY, I highly recommend it. He’s such a class act and I’m so proud to have him as our president!
We put on a good show and I’m guardedly hopeful at the progress that Trudeau might make in terms of creating an actually just society. But Canada was built on genocide, a genocide that continues culturally and literally. The Residential School system (read up here:

Tell it to the Indigenous Tribes.
I straight up cried. I don’t consider myself terribly emotional, but between Canada’s beautiful reception and Humans of New York lately, I’m a mess.
