Wow, lots of people completely missed the point of my comment. More accurately, there wasn’t really a point, and lots of people found one that wasn’t meant to be there.
I propose that the opposite is true.
I figured the repair savings would be more or less cancelled out by the more expensive insurance. But yeah, sure would be nice to have something new and under warranty for once.
I’m not saying nobody should buy this car; I just like doing ridiculous math sometimes. If I were shopping for a cheap new car, this one would seriously be one of my top contenders.
Yeah, for all the complaining I do about my truck, it is paid off.
I know it’s not a fair comparison; I just wanted to try it and see what happened.

I have manual windows, and I feel basically the same way.
The repair manual for my S-10 recommends pulling the engine to remove the oil pan.
My experience was very similar to yours. The one time I didn’t change my own oil was the one time the drain plug hole got cross-threaded. Now I only trust myself.
