I think this would have been better if it had nothing to do with Toy Story. I purely original story would have landed better.

I liked that Psych opened up to more non-murder cases as time went on. I think the audience likes Charlie enough that if she thinks a ‘case’ is important that the audience will think the stakes are high enough.
To be clear: This is hardly the first time Velma has been essayed by an actor of color (see Gina Rodriguez in 2020’s Scoob!, and Hayley Kiyoko in two Scooby Doo! movies in 2009 and 2010).
Never like being in the camp to burn it all down because with most creative projects there are a lot of other people invovled who craft and make the thing. Tearing it all down likely hurts them more than the villain.
While I’m not looking to spend any time with Harmon, it does seem as he has taken strides to improve himself.
I was an 18-year-old make up artist in 1998, and in the midwest. I had enough sense to tell people to fuck off when asked to apply blackface on clients. (It was like 10-15 requests a year)
The God Butcher storyline alone may have not been exactly the right fit for Taika. Or maybe if it was only the God Butcher, we would have gotten more of that balance that he showed in Jojo Rabbit.
The “losing time” story element has been part of Scott’s story since the very beginning. He lost 5 years with his daughter from being in jail, he lost 5 more years being trapped in the quantum verse. It’s constantly the stakes of his story, it’s not the idea of jail, it’s losing more time from his daughter. The…
Dispite gripes from people online, and countless “What you need to know before” videos, I honestly think Marvel does a pretty good job of making movies and TV sows that you can walk into knowing nothing and have a good time. May not get the deeper layers others get, but you are going to understand and enjoy the movie.
I’m in a similar boat where my genderqueer ass keeps their head down hoping to not attract attention so I don’t get killed or threatened or etc etc.
I used to agree with Dave being thoughtful, but I feel like he’s been out of touch for years.
It feels like all the white people who tell black people to shut up because racism is over. Dave and Ye are acting like since some Jewsih people are powerful, that there is no real anti semitism. Someone defaced Jewish graves with Swastikas, yesterday!
that occured to me a well while writing. That he could be so out of touch that he has to specifically travel and find the last blockbuster, so he could work there like his idol.
It’s not that “kids today” haven’t heard of Tarantino. But the joke doesn’t work for a 20 year old because the only way a teenaged Tarantino had to get a film education was to work a Video Store (same for Kevin Smith and others).
But a teenager or 20 year old today has access to so many more movies, and movie…
I kind of agree. That is a great moment for a show like this. It’s not laugh out loud, but shows this odd moment you wouldn’t have expected. It has a lot of thuth in it.
Watching the trailer, that seemed like a large cast of employees for a video store in 2022. Ultimately the concept feels more like it should be some ultra low budget, scrappy show with a cast of 4 or so, with rotating and recurring additional cast members....and I now realize I’m just going to be describing Always…
I hope she sues.
Idealy the answer is nothing. It’s cool to be familar, but we really don’t need to know anything about these characters before the movie. It’s the movie’s job to tell me who these characters are and why I should care.
I’m not crazy about the shape of that in my pocket. I do have a Gerber shard on my keychain, I figure in a pinch it could open a can, but I haven’t tried it yet.
I had my fiance watch the “I am the one who knocks” scene so she could have some context of the line. She really walked away with how weak and pathetic Walter White is. Rewatching it as well for me just showed how much he is begging to be cool and scary, and just doesn’t deserve respect.
