This was the part where I was lost my suspension of disbelief.

Which is honestly a weird choice of WB to release it the day before Falcon & Bucky. The discourse is going to get overshadowed. They could have owned the week by moving earlier to go between Wanda and Falcon. Blamed it on the leak and just release it. 

Playing armchair investigator and buffy fan, all the accusations kind of track in my opinion. A lot of the things he’s be accused of saying and doing, he’s said and joked about in dvd commentaries over the years, but in more of a joking tone.

I think there is a big difference to presenting something that has a relatively small percentage of offensive material in relationship to the total content with a disclaimer, vs something that is almost entirely offensive.

No disclaimer would make releasing a large piece of media that is mostly offensive commercially…

I’m over 40 and trans. I can not just ignore this.

You don’t pick a photo of Swift in font of a CATS banner if you want this audience to take her suggestions remotely seriously.

I get the impulse to want to be someone else. Take the challenge. But honestly. It’s not helpful. I’d rather they not make a movie than have a cis star play a trans person.

Yeah, that’s worse. That’s way worse.

There are countless examples of movies with no name stars in the leads and they come in and crush it financially. Parasite. 1917. Star Wars. Halloween. El Mariachi. Seriously, it’s an infinite list. You don’t need them. 

Sounds like a good plan to me.

Or we could hire trans actors. Because apparently trans stories are worth telling, but not worth trans people telling them.

Or a trans actor of color over 50 could have this part. Someone with less privilege than her.

So Halle would need make up to show the different stages of transition for the role. So a trans person could also use make up to show their progress for different stages of the transition.

This is clearly the “maybe I can get an oscar” role, because of how hard it would be for her to play this, and how important the story is. But we can’t have someone tell their own story.

So you need to see someone’s privates to prove they are trans or cis?

But why not actually show the real discriminated populations if your goal is to showcase that they exist. Probably get some of the story right.

I don’t need Halle pretending to represent me in an other “Don’t trans people have it super hard. Isn’t their life miserable” movie. I’d rather this movie not get made.
Give me a trans-lead action movie. or a trans-lead romantic comedy.

It’s likely time to change. If they want to continue to exist, they need to become something different than before.
