Mathieson's already gone on record saying that he hasn't been asked to write for Series 11; Chibnall wants to work with his "Broadchurch" crew according to him.

(hmm) Seems like such small potatoes though. This would tie into the floated theory that what will make this regeneration different from the last few is that it is a SLOW process. Perhaps the poor Doctor can't regenerate for Reasons yet, perhaps because of the Vault business or otherwise, and he's trying to put it

And it would be REALLY interesting for the blindness to persist until the regeneration…come to think of it, why didn't the Doctor's healing factor kick in? He's never been disabled for more than one episode before, has he?

Yes, but I'm among those who think it's not just a matter of WHO is in the vault, but why. Is it a threat to Earth, or would Earth/humanity actually be the bigger danger if it were to find out about it/come in contact with it? Also, this whole arc might be setting up bigger revelations down the line given how much

Well, you've got me there. Still, it's rare for newWho episodes to follow on each other so tightly. Thanks for the reply by the by.

I wouldn't say the Christmas shows were blah; I loved "Husbands of River Song" and really enjoyed "Return of Doctor Mysterio" — but they were definitely breather stories. Then again, poor Twelvey needs them given how few episodes in his regular seasons are light/low-stakes.

Another fine entry. Though I wouldn't say the next episode "Extremis" is going to be "unrelated" if the Doctor is still struggling with blindness. Also, it's the start of the return of Missy mini-arc, too…

Besides the newest episode of "Doctor Who" ("Knock Knock" was good), I spent some time Sunday catching up with some expanded universe stuff. iBooks has not been keeping up with the Titan Comics Twelfth Doctor title, so I found myself buying the second issue of Year Three at Barnes and Noble. The good news is that

Poor Peter Capaldi's won nothing anywhere for his work on "Doctor Who" and this cold fish does for a crummy remake….

The only nominee besides "Beauty" I saw was "Rogue One", which I thought was far superior. And I'm calling shenanigans on Watson winning the Acting prize, she was a total cold fish. Now where's my broom?

Yeah, if it's not one of the Masters, it's probably the Valeyard. That character's probably the most requested antagonist that hasn't yet turned up in the revival, and a major plot hole for the larger franchise. On the other hand, from my understanding the Valeyard was a villain defined by a desire for cold order

I wasn't sure about this one at first as I watched it, but this review points up why it ultimately works — especially how the reveal of the landlord's identity makes so much of his earlier behavior clearer. The whole story's sort of a twisted variant on Moffat's "The Empty Child"/"The Doctor Dances", and an effective

That movie isn't much, but as a huge Peter Sellers fan I will defend it as at least better than "The Prisoner of Zenda" remake he did the previous year, in which he also does the multiple role thing, as it happens. At least he's having some fun in "Fiendish Plot" — possibly because it's really a feature-length riff

Heh, Comet was just running the MST3K in question this past Sunday!

Not much after last weekend's C2E2 bash, but did catch the latest "Doctor Who"; "Thin Ice" was the strongest episode of this season yet. Am also seriously considering a Netflix subscription for the MST3K revival, which I'm pretty sure I'd enjoy.

Also, Twelfth Doctor with kids is always gold material, going back to "Listen". Dad skills!

Have to say while waiting to see this episode I was excited to see it got an A and now that I've seen it woohoo! Go Twelfth Doctor and Bill!

Given that "Beauty and the Beast" and other remakes have been cleaning up in the spring, as well as "Zootopia", that's a pretty good release date (in time for Easter/spring break) to have.

Wow, they put together a nicely varied lineup of films for this first season, I'm impressed and look forward to catching up with it down the line.

I spent the weekend at C2E2 in Chicago and had a great time — I wasn't interested in the featured guests and the panels didn't have the variety of, say, the Wizard World shows, but there were some great fandom meetups, the biggest Artist Alley and vendor areas I've seen at a con so far, and much better handling of
