I’ve had the Asus for almost 2 years now.. I will say it’s only in recent months that it’s gotten stable for me. There was a point early on where it had to be reset almost daily while I patiently waited for firmware updates to address it. And yes.. recent and current firmware seem to have largely fixed it.

Not speed related.. but for parents with young children who like to uhh.. browse, the internet.. there’s services like OpenDNS’s “FamilyShield” DNS which basically filters out questionable sites. It’s a good quick fix at least until your child is more savvy. :)
