People tend to forget that Einstein wasn't just one of the smartest people of his day, but that he was also a very active supporter of the disenfranchised. Forty years after this letter, he volunteered as a character witness for W.E.B. DuBois (on a charge of "failing to register as a foreign agent"). The simple fact

This wins Kotaku for the day.

Going to get some flack I'm sure for this, But Lost. it changed so much about the way people thought about story arcs. Gave a lot of writers the confidence to pitch shows that weren't "dip in/dip out"

It's about damn time.

All I'm saying is that NERV should have some sort of therapist to help deal with the stress of what the EVA pilots are dealing with.

Actually. They were chosen specifically for their psyche. They were the only ones who could synchronize with the EVAs based on the fact that the LCL within, contained the same brain patterns as either their dead parents, or clones of themselves. They were literally the only ones that could pilot them.

That's it, really. We could have this. It'd be hard work. It'd require a lot of technology that doesn't exist right now. But this? This is our own solar system. This is deep space, but not crazy sci-fi hey-we-need-faster-than-light-travel deep space. This is attainable.

That's what I find so incredibly awe-inspiring

What...!? I made a comment on the article picture, and it said the picture might contain graphic content =/ I guess Groudon might be...

#1. Wasn't he just using gravity to manipulate objects? wasn't that the last part of the equations that gravity can transcend time?

Did you actually read the article, by chance?

With regard to "theory," I actually have a problem with the prescriptivist view of language maintained by most of my colleagues (I'm a scientist) that denies the way people use everyday language. Take a look at the literal dictionary definition of theory: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/the… Are 6a and 6b

Fittest does not mean strongest, or smartest. It simply means an organism that fits best into its environment, which could mean anything from "smallest" or "squishiest" to "most poisonous" or "best able to live without water for weeks at a time."

As a river scientist, I would like to add "restoration" to the list of misused, misunderstood terms. Once humans have messed with a system in any way, you are not putting it back to some "original" condition.

I highly agree with #6, because I see even proper scientists getting really confused about what they consider to be a 'gene', and fuss over the definition of 'junk DNA', when there are better words to explain the various elements found in DNA. You have protein coding DNA, you have RNA coding DNA, and you have a

But dinosaurs were from more than 20,000 years ago... right? And so were cavemen? So therefore cavemen and dinosaurs both lived more than 20,000 years ago. It's just logic!

How about "people use 10% of their brains". Not true, and sick of hearing it in movies.

My stepfather, years back, more or less perfected the response to the claim that something was 'all natural':
