Sure, this thruster issue isn’t great either, nor is the public-facing explanation, but they did manage to correct it without loss of life. And because they corrected it without loss of life, I’d call that the “win” that Oberg was talking about. Successfully overcoming problems reduces complacency.

He was around for past tragedy, and he’s commenting on parallels that he sees. He still knows people in the program, and closely follows events (I know him myself, and know the care and attention he puts into this).

If you read the entire OpEd (or even, imagine this, the article above), you’ll see that Oberg cites lots of other potential problems and indicators of problems. A complacency from a lack of real threats is only one potential contribution to the piss-poor response.

Nell’s episode In particular was moving - both very scary, and deeply heartbreaking.  Not often you’re terrified one moment and crying the next.

I loved The Haunting of Hill House. It had one big jump scare each episode, but it also had extended scary sections. More importantly, I cared about the characters beyond the mechanics of the horror genre. I related to this dysfunctional family just trying to keep it together.
