I was so excited when I picked this book up. A friend pitched it as something inspired, transgressive, and unique. But to me it read less like a novel and more like an unintentionally melodramatic summary of a TV show. 

I finished it. It was terrible. It was the lazy work of an author who didn’t have any original ideas so she fictionalized one of the most notorious cults of the 20th century.

Can I sue her for the time I wasted reading that lousy book and for the emotional distress I feel every time I look at the people who’s taste I once respected who told me it was ‘sooooo good!’??

Nothing about it was very interesting, which is probably why this guy lost his lawsuit.

Did anyone finish this novel? I made it 50 pages, yawned and gave up...worth finishing, or was my ‘meh’ justified?

Seriously, I’m very certain that this whole remake thing is a scam of some sort to get right-wing manbabies to hand over their money foot over hand just because some shady motherfucker offers them an opportunity to “piss of the SJWs”.

What I don’t get is the polarization on this movie. It was neither as great as all its defenders claim, nor as horrible as the neckbeards claim. It was pretty good in large chunks while it had some extremely questionable plot/writing decisions in other areas. Everything with Luke/Rey/Kylo worked, and almost everything…

Just club kids in general, so I think you might be off the mark, but who knows?
