How does this contrast with Independent media in other countries? Say in the UK, with the powerful Murdoch empire contrasted with places like the Grauniads and BBCs? I’m assuming the amount of money and talent concentrated in the US far outshines European nations.

Reissue your certs dude, it still links to *.gawker.com and Chrome is throwing shitfit with https.

Our main focus was agriculture and climate, so I do hope they used it for the betterment of their country. As we are in India, it’s a nice stepping stone for them to understand western cultures without the attendant security measures.

I’m not saying any of these reports are fake, I’m adding perspective.

I certainly hope not. They are selected via UN and New Delhi had final approval, so everything should have been legit.

I know two of them were son/daughter of a diplomat. I presume foreign service people are given more leeway.

This is even stranger to me because I have worked extensively with North Koreans who are not defectors, but (adult) students. I worked with several of them for a couple of years, teaching them about satellite remote sensing and geoinformatics. They certainly weren’t rich, considering they had to go back to the

The TRON: Legacy introductory scene, with the jump cut leading to the Ducati speeding through the city at night while Daft Punk cuts through the air, is an absolute masterclass of direction. After seeing that I was certain this was going to be extraordinary movie. Sadly, the rest of it couldn’t quite live up to that

Because Bollywood is a tiny, tiny part of Indian movie industry and they’re famously regressive. That’s not to say they don’t put out great movies, but just that the politics in Mumbai is very right wing and can go on theatre burning escapades at the slightest provocation. In fact, the biggest Indian movie of all

Wait what? East Indian movies (primarily Bengali and Assami movies) are far bolder with women’s rep than the typical Bollywood or Bhojpuri masala potboilers. The greatest modern Bengali director, who sadly passed away recently, was gay and proud of it and there are many, many movie focused on sexuality and repression.

As I said elsewhere, Docker died pretty catastrophically as well. Also their status page icons were also hosted on S3, so apparently that’s why nobody could understand what was happening.
