Yep, seeing Chayton snap her neck while he was helpless was not only a twist of the knife, but ultimately just another "Man can't fulfill his patriarchal duty to save his womenfolk" move, and god dammit those need to stop.

I just can't get over how both Nola, Siobhan, and even the other native American girl murdered by the Amish schoolteacher have died because of powerful MEN have engaged in selfish and power-hungry games that leave so many dead in the name of progress or control.

It reminded me of the stabbing scene in "I Saw The Devil"

It was more like Mortal Kombat, really.

All I could think was "Native American ex-druggie woman fighting a psychotic white dude with a childhood of abuse" really, in a fair universe she'd wipe the floor with him, but because he was the only thing standing between murdering Proctor and his "home on the range niece" they had to go with the "white guy protects

It's actually a pretty good look at how toxic masculinity can hide in seemingly normal men.

Nah, he came a across as a bully who justifies everything by saying "He should've done x"

"Your past will become your present"

I agree that the twist is troubling because it robs Robyn of agency. In fact, there's something to the idea that a Lie destroyed Gordos life, and now Lie (or truth) will forever torment Simons, and whether this makes Gordo a man getting revenge, or a keyser soze like morality figure.

I feel like the review describes the whole movie wrong, there's actually a real hint of compassion for Gordo from the start, and unlike the trailer he doesn't really come across as a stalker given how much Robyn seems to sense a kindred spirit in him.

Just saw this. Bit of low-hanging fruit, and damn, was Julia Stiles in it for just one scene?

I like the idea that he REALLY is becoming kind of evil, what with his manipulation of Chiyoh and how he's really abandoned all of his friends.
He's become a shark, headed straight for Hannibal. And he can't stop, even if he wanted to…

I really felt like I needed preparing for that line, because it just kept coming and was such a dick move I expected Alana to just walk out of the room.

It's beyond me why Pazzi didn't enlist Jack for backup. Just saying, hey, I'm gonna go into this building, if I'm not back in five minutes, come in bc Hannibal probably eating me.

Huh

Hm. I don't remember this.

His death with the pencil(?) seems particularly savage in my mind.

Wasn't there a tv trope named after this? "Who The Hell is Beth?" AKA "A Death In The Lime Light."

Sure the show was trash, but it also had one of the most emotional moments I've ever seen in a slasher type film. The music just kills it.
