Best wishes. I hope the staff have some clue what they’re doing and treat you with compassion and respect, and that fellow patients do not steal your clothes.

He is very talented but he does seem super erratic. I saw him on tour and he was 2 hours late for his show and extended one of his popular songs for 25 minutes rambling about how no one understands him. Hope he can find a way to level out and deal with some of his paranoid thoughts and be happy.
This month marks 6 years of no psychiatric hospitalization for me after going in every Oct/Nov for 3 years straight. The last stay was almost 4 weeks (two 5150 holds plus a 5250) plus 3 months in outpatient group therapy. Be patient. Listen to your doctors and staff. Advocate your needs. Be kind to yourself. Wishing…
It’s called a 5150 and it was also my favorite Urban Decay lipstick color when I was 19.
Yup- I’ve made that call a few times for my sister (she’s bipolar and used to go off her mess and think people were out to kill her and carry butcher knives around her house in a regular basis- not good for her kids- she’s doing great now), and also for my old roommate who self medicated and would disappear into the…
We had to do that to my friend. We knew she was struggling with an eating disorder but we didn’t realize the true extent of the problem until she was an immediate danger to herself. Luckily one of us was able to call her parents so they didn’t have to get the call from the school. She got help and she’s doing well.
Good lord. In Massachusetts you practically have to be in the act of murdering someone or committing suicide to be involuntarily committed. The laws strongly favor patient rights. Which is great in theory but not when you’re trying to help your delusional relative who refuses to take her meds because she’s decided…
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing. I’m glad they treated you with respect!
Yeah the cops were actually really great with me. I’ve been arrested too and they weren’t so great that time but they actually treated me with dignity and respect for the 5150.
Best of luck to you.
Yup, I had a friend who was taken in on a 5150 and he had to go in handcuffs too, even though he was relatively calm and the cops were apparently really nice.
to be fair, I’ve been the subject of a mental welfare call. I frantically dialed a friend while feeling very suicidal and unwell. I had chosen to stop taking my anti-depressants for about a week, and she was reasonably concerned. I had a neighbor drive me to the hospital, but my friend still made a welfare call. The…
Good luck. I know I’m an internet stranger, but I hope you get the help you need.
Wishing you health and healing.
I think he’s more borderline personality bc his outbursts to baseline time is short. BPD (in my observation) are like tornadoes, hit quick and hard then move on without realizing how much destruction they caused. He’s also very sensitive to perceived rejection, slights, etc.
I usually don’t like to make speculative armchair diagnoses but his public persona has always basically screamed bipolar so it’s incredibly hard not to wonder. I hope that whatever is going with him he is able to accept the help he needs.
Hope you feel better. Been there. Done that. Hugs
I hope you get the care you need.
Well well, Kanye and I have something in common. I’m also being admitted to hospital this afternoon for my own ‘health and safety’. I have a feeling he will be getting a nicer room and better food than me.
