Yeah, that analogy doesn’t really work. VAG, Daimler, and Tata are all very large conglomerates and their perspective luxury brands have skin in the game already. Tesla released the Model S 8 years ago. You can’t tell me one of the largest automakers in the world shouldn’t have been able to figure something out in

Agree with the general point, but given the fact that Tesla’s the only game in town still, not sure GM is too late. All OEM’s have shit the bed, but IMO BMW and likely FCA are the only ones I’m convinced are the walking dead at the moment.

I’ll be waiting for the entry level model called the Basiq. As in, “Ya basic”

I have owned 2 GM vehicles, the hate is well placed.  I don’t care how nice this is, will never buy another GM product again.  While that may sound sort of short sighted, and maybe their new products will be paragons of reliability and quality, I seriously doubt it.  That said, interior looks nice, front end is ok,

when it does... the cruiser’s been sunk already and the enemy sub is now lining back up?

Jaguar had an electric crossover on the market in 2018. Jaguar. Here is a frankly astonishing sentence from the wiki:

Nobody cares

Everyone talks about range, but what about charging infrastructure and time convenience?

Also- drove an etron, now have Tesla model y, used to drive a Volvo. Volvo’s interior smashes both of the others, but the e-tron was...boring?

So the Audi carries an additional 1300 pounds, goes 100 miles less, and still costs a minimum of $16,000 more than a long range AWD Model Y ($49,990 before rebates), a car almost exactly the same size (Y is 6" shorter but the same width and height).

He’s talking about the range not even in the same league, not about the car overall. The Model Y can go over 300 miles, while e-tron is over 200. That’s a fairly decent gap and generally considered a different “class” in range.

Its still too much. And for the money, the range is garbage. And looks, especially with EV’s are subjective, but this thing blends into the crowd. Not in a good way. In person, a passing glance would make you think it was an A6 Avant or something. Its no surprise that owners aren’t keeping these things. They are

The range estimates comparisons have mainly been from a misunderstanding of EPA figures. EPA’s default range number is based on a combined cycle that includes the city cycle with a lot of stop and go, while most people instead compare range to steady state highway range (usually around 70mph).

I know someone is going to say that Audi’s range estimates are probably more realistic than Tesla’s, but this thing isn’t even in the same league as a Model Y. Now if only Tesla would create a $10k package to add in an HUD and buttons for controls, I’d consider one.

Eh-tron.

You think a niche car developed 8 years ago is responsible for almost a billion in lost this year ?

The i3 probably has next to no impact on BMW’s financials at the moment. It’s not a car they are really pushing, and has been out for years. The biggest problem is its absolutely pathetic range. The range extender hybrid version makes no sense either with its teacup sized gas tank.

I guess since BMW is losing money, coke dealers are too.

Make ugly cars, see ugly returns.
