The thermodynamic efficiency of generating power at a plant and using it to power an electric car is double what it is to directly power an ICE vehicle on petrol. The US now produces a plurality of its power from gas, and that fraction is increasing as coal plants shut down. That gas comes from oil wells (or fracking)

The base Model 3 is only slightly less expensive than the Bolt, but doesn’t offer as much range without opting for the more expensive battery. And because I’m curious, what amenities are you talking about? Don’t talk about the IPad dash because I think most people would prefer physical knobs and buttons to control

The Bolt has slightly more range than the standard Model 3 unless you want the more expensive extended range version.

Tesla is announcing new products like the Semi and Roadster so they can grab the cash they receive from the reservations and pump it into fixing the Model 3.

The thing you’re typing this on is probably made in China and it obviously works fine if you’re able to comment on here. Get over yourself.

Exactly, not in Fremont.

But, this will likely have better build quality than the Model X.

They really need something between the mustang and the GT. A Pantera revival would be great against a mid engine corvette. Maybe sell it under Lincoln, or even revive Mercury for special projects...

I don’t know why I think that sounds fantastic, but I do. Huracan suspension, coach built “New Pantera” body and interior, and an FPC Voodoo 5.2.

Exactly!

All the people who are trashing the Senna simply due to its aesthetics seem to be under the impression that the sole purpose of a hypercar is to look cool. On the contrary, the primary purpose of hypercars is to be showcases of race engineering prowess from the manufacturer. In this case, McLaren is intending this car

Me, three, and I am an old school guy who doesn’t really like too many modern supercar designs. The glass bubble cockpit is cool. Corny is it sounds I got shivers when I read the headline and saw the car. Last time that happened was when Car and Driver featured the first Ford GT40 redux on the cover with the headline

It’s been over 23 years and it’s still too soon for a joke like that :(

Weighing in at just 2,641 pounds...

I must be the oddball, I like how it looks. If they named it after the late great Senna, I assume it has the performance to match?

>“One-trick-pony” (in terms of acceleration)

I can see the problem with the first thing but not the second.

Back in the ‘60s, that was the future that might have been, but wasn’t:
