Probably some sort of swab-and-culture affair (it’s a bacterial infection, so you can plate it out and grow it), or potentially a DNA amplification protocol, looking for a chlamydia-specific sequence? Those would be my guesses. You’d have to get samples somehow, definitely could be dangerous.
Another tempting belly! I love that orange-and-white coat pattern.
Fluffcat! I would risk having my hand removed to pet that belly.
Pembroke Welsh Corgi!
Truuuuuuue.
Oh my gosh, what beautiful cats! Very regal. They own that yard.
That one looks like a fruitivore.
Been reading about this. I’m in a microbiology lab, doing metagenomics, and we talked about this paper a bit (although the lab is more focused on environmental microbiology). Microbes are important! Not sure that this is necessarily a good thing to do, but it would be interesting to see a longer-term study looking at…
Oh man, yeah, dark undereye circles have been plaguing me since I was a teenager.
I didn’t know until right now that these are the quetions I absolutely need answers to.
I think the narrative may have come out of someone’s backside.
Oh wow. Flannel purists.
Kylie looks very uncomfortable. (Unkomfortable?)
Useful to know about! For the cosplayers and costume-lovers among us.
Dangit, should have gone into molecular biology, not eco/evo! No one brings the ecologists/evo biologists sandwich platters (except maybe other ecologists/evo biologists).
I think they usually get darker with age, a lot like Siamese cats. (I assume it’s a similar temperature-dependent enzyme thing, with the extremities being cooler and therefore able to produce pigment.)
BIG BUN!!!
Dangit, now I want this. Every time I think “Ehh, I’m not that into [whatever thing]”, something comes along to remind me that yeah, I am actually that into it.
Rural and remote is my jam, I’ll keep this in mind when looking for positions!
