@ShaughnTr0n: You connect via Listen Server to the host of the game. Everyone connects to this one single person. Average ping is, on the low end ~250-300ms. IW thinks this is acceptable.

@Deez: Activision wants you to pay more for everything. Just look at WoW and how many paid "services" there are. Race change($25), Faction Change($30), Character Recustomization($15), Server transfer($25), Name Change ($10), PAID IN-GAME PETS ($10).
@DaveKap: They've said that they're working on adapting the developer tools to allow for custom maps and mods for the PC version.

@thesircuddles: No, Unreal Tournament 3 had the worst browser ever. Bad Comp 2 at least HAS a server browser, unlike that /other/ popular shooter game.
@Skyllus: The dedicated servers are always up, it's the EA Authentication server that keeps going down. If you pay attention to their official blog, or their twitter feed, you'll be better acquainted with the downtime and the server maintenance schedules.

@Steve Campbell: He's not saying it isn't doable, he's saying that the time and money it would take to do the mocap, editing, voice acting, modeling, skeletal rigging, and programming wouldn't be cost effective for the benefit of the game.
