After living in the swamp for coming up on 8 years now I will not regale you in all my knowledge of these beasts. Luckily I really only run into a couple a year.  

They are fast as hell, it could have made it out. Their exoskeleton is so thick they might be fire resistant at least.

You now its a big spider when you can hear them scurry and do they crunch when you step on them.

I have an only child, he is 13 and the oldest, so its not quite as fun as it used to be. But Christmas is time to gather up the cousins and drag them over for ginger bread houses and cookie decorating. Their parents get a break and my wife loves the chaos of lots of kids.
