Many moons ago I had a ‘73 Impala 4 door hardtop with a badly peeling vinyl top... back then GM didn’t even bother PAINTING the roofs of cars that got vinyl coverings!

I’m planning on peeling the vinyl top from my ‘78 Fairmont when I start the bodywork and I can’t wait to see what’s underneath it... :\

The problem predates push-button start, eventually it was blamed on floor mats.

That was supposed to happen to the Ohio Turnpike too, but of course it didn’t. That said, I’m pretty happy it’s still a toll road as it’s best kept highway in the state even with its seemingly perpetual state of repaving.
