I've found an open box of baking soda to work very well at removing odors in the fridge and freezer. It works even faster when you pour the baking soda into a dish. Something to do with more surface area I suppose. Baking soda is even advertised as being a deodorizer :)

The best part of spray paint is getting to shake the can and hear the clackety-clack of the little ball bearing inside. I would miss hearing that sound if I made one of these.
