I got Prime in the first place for the shipping. Everything else (which I basically don’t use) is just value added. Technically I/we still have all that other stuff even if it’s now “less value”

Yeah, I’m in the weak crowd as well. The ease of shipping savings, Prime Video has a few good things, my wife uses Music, I get free games from Prime Gaming, plus the Whole Foods discounts....not entirely sure it pays for itself from an accounting perspective, but from a convenience perspective, it does.

I’m sure luck was a part of it, but that probably isn’t all there is to it. Judging from your posts, you’ll never see it that way. You could have just said “I don’t like her” or “I don’t think streaming is a real job” or whatever. You’re entitled to like or dislike whatever you want.

To be fair, MatPat has made a career out of plastering his smug, extra-punchable face in every video. So ignoring him seems like the best kind of way to honor his retirement.

Why would they limit it to that? It almost seems like they were trying to keep it as simple as possible to keep the brain activity at a minimum.

a presidential pardon for someone leaking the financial details of your enemies would be basically what people feared nixon might try which could trigger god knows what: a coup, a revolution, or worse.

Tl/DR: Don’t ascribe long standing logistics practices to malicious intent without having very clear evidence that is the case. Correlation (multiple scarcity events in the past after launch) doesn’t imply causation (deliberate manipulation of production for PR purposes).

I think these rumors start because Nintendo at one point was the only company not selling their systems at a projected loss based on component cost. Many estimate that microsoft looses $200 per series X. But even if Nintendo was making a profit on systems it wouldn’t be that much per system making artificial scarcity…

that’s also because credit card points addicts and resellers have teamed up, essentially creating a human botnet. there’s a whole community around it.

Hasn’t the fact that Nintendo was one of the first game companies to pioneer false scarcity to make their products more appealing been known for like decades.

I suspect they will go simple and call it the Switch 2.

I hope Nintendo does something to limit botting. Maybe a sign up for people who have had an online account for a while.
