Ophelia's Revenge

I fell out of my routine already but I woke up with leg cramps this morning so obviously I need to get back in it! Let's do this!

I finally started writing again! Three day weekend this weekend! My new position starts in two weeks!

Same with Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon.

I picked up a copy of Gone Girl at a thrift store so I guess I'll start that soon? Still working my way through Lovecraft's Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories, as well as Dostoyevsky's The Possessed.

Thank you so much! I browsed through some Wikipedia categories to try and pin it down but couldn't.

If you remember, will you please post it here? I want to research!

Damn, that Cosmo interview was great. Good for them!

I've been trying to be less of a snarky asshole lately and just be
pretty "good vibes/you do you unless it hurts someone" kind of deal. But
the Corey Feldman video made me laugh a bunch. I feel terrible about
it, but a little less so after reading that one of the girls in the band calls herself Corey's "maingel".

Last night I got completely engrossed in "Angels & Demons" (http://reprints.longform.or…, the Pulitzer-winning article by Thomas French about the murder of Jo Rogers and her two daughters. It was gripping as hell, but I needed a hug afterward, so I decided to get caught up on Portlandia season six.

I was already decidedly not feeling The Family Stone when I watched it, but when Luke Wilson tells Sarah Jessica Parker that he had a dream she was shoveling snow and that he was the snow I almost rage-vomited. Like, how the fuck is that supposed to be 'romantic'? Is it meant to be quirky? Poetic? It's nonsense, I

I really hope he gets another unabashedly evil character like last season - that ten minutes introducing March was my favorite part of Hotel. He deserves better than mopey love triangle guy.

I hated that ending for the same reason I hated the Murder House ending: I don't want ghosts to have happy endings. I don't care about their emotional lives. Be scary, damn it!

Someone on a different episode discussion said it sounded like a mid-aughts emo band name and they're not wrong.

I like that they're experimenting in an interesting way with it, and there's plenty of room for some subtle (and not-so-subtle, since it's AHS) meta-commentary on storytelling/myth-making/legend from the format.

I really want this to happen at some point.

Nice catch! I wasn't paying close attention on first watch (a bad sign), but I'm sure I'll give it another viewing and make note of that!

It could have been so good, and there were seeds of good things there. It just wanted so badly to be a 'message' season that it hammered it into our heads at the expense of plot.

It's not inconceivable for a mixed-race couple just about anywhere to encounter bigotry, unfortunately.

I didn't see Vetements' stuff - I'll have to check it out! I'm surprised/dismayed that sheer/lace/embroidery/cutouts continue to be such A Thing, though.

New York Fashion Week Thread!
