Tell that to the internet, I guess.

Agh, that's brutal. HR, despite my preconceived notions, also doesn't really seem to have great prospects. My field is HR-adjacent and the amount of people in my department with HR degrees is astounding. Hopefully the JD will give her a leg up, at least.
The first of four stories I have in anthologies/magazines came out this week! It's a bit of encouragement because I just have not been in writing mode at all lately.
Having that understanding can kind of suck, right? Like, it's good, because you know the coping skills, you try them, and they might work with middling effect or not at all. Then you know you just have to bide your time 'til it passes. It gets me so frustrated. Hope you feel better soon!
I got a promotion at work and have been very eager to start the new position. Only they need to hire my replacement first and my boss said she had to interview 15 candidates and "probably wouldn't find one" and that my colleague, who was also promoted, would begin his training before me anyway bc he's on contract. So…
Finished Horns by Joe Hill, slowly making my way through The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories by HP Lovecraft. My mileage is varying quite a bit with these stories.
Finally did some yoga again, followed by tai chi. It's so humid that I was literally dripping sweat by the end of it. Fuck summer.

They killed SIX alligators in the search for the one that did it and no one gave a shit. As someone who likes alligators that kinda grated on my nerves, y'know?
Well, everyone knows that The Royal Tenenbaums is the fan favorite and considered the best. What this comment presupposes is…maybe it isn't?
Oh my god, me too. So this is what it feels like when doves cry.
I haven't seen Boyhood because I suspected exactly what you said. I want to see The Tree of Life. Completely agree with your assessment of Children of Men.
I feel like The Royal Tenenbaums is more immediately enjoyable but The Grand Budapest Hotel is better overall?
I mean, if we're going with soft sci-fi that explores humanity and love against technology, I think Eternal Sunshine and Her are pretty much tied. But that's both really broad and really specific categorizing.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought so!
Adaptation isn't on that top 100 list and I am annoyed by this omission.
I Know What You Did Last Summer was a masterpiece and you know it!
Y'know, when I saw the first Saw movie, I thought, "that was a great ending and it will never need a sequel". I think a lot of horror movies don't but the industry obviously disagrees.
My husband and I were discussing that - how maybe part of the appeal in Canada and not the US was that the Hip are such perfect music for driving through rural areas. It's much easier to drive for 30 minutes in Canada and hit something approaching wilderness than it is in a lot of areas of the US. It was definitely…
I agree, but I put ketchup on my poutine, so I'm clearly not one to talk.
