Given the general reactions I’ve seen around the net the last 24 hours, I don’t think that’s the case this time. I also don’t think it’s purely homophobes or gamergaters either. The first game resonated emotionally with a lot of people and it’s hard to watch characters you grew to love outright suffering.

OW I think is a good example of how catering to professional play and trying to make shit ultra competitive just ruins a lot of games.

That’s almost definitely what would happen, because it’s exactly what happened with HOTS. They realized their esports league for that was bleeding money, so they abandoned the entire game.
