Nature likes colour.

This is a great story.

A coworker convinced me that a spoon of coconut oil in coffee is amazing!

Okay so. In the late seventies, early eighties, before I was born, my mother worked with a group in southern Alberta that did sex ed talks but also helped counsel women who wanted/needed an abortion. There was one hospital in town that would do an abortion, or otherwise they’d help them arrange a trip down to the

Ugh. I bought these too. I forgot about them.

My roommate had one of those. She never cleaned it properly and it was eternally sticky inside and out and smelled like rancid oil. She seemed oblivious to this fact.

From a previous roommate who moved out, I inherited a bunch of spoons. Some of them are tiny little delicate useless teaspoons. For... tiny puddings or scooping sugar into coffee, I don’t know. There’s a few of them. That’s not too weird.

I thought this about test tube babies for the longest time too, when I was little. I had this idea that say, if the mom was really sick, they could take the baby out of her and grow her in a test tube until she was supposed to be born.

Came here to say this. Glad I didn’t have to.

That’s a new one on me. My sympathies to your friend. I definitely don’t question that gluten can be very problematic for people in different ways. I just... have my doubts about this particular acquaintance’s claims.

If he were celiac, that would make sense. But he apparently doesn’t have digestive problems from eating gluten. It stinks of placebo effect to high heaven.

Someone really has to address these little-discussed non-digestive dangers of gluten.

If it was the first case, I’d understand, but given the way he talks about it... I don’t think that’s it. Actually, his mother is a complete nut (she believes in “unschooling” and I have to say her children are lovely people but incredibly ignorant about basic facts), and I feel like it’s her influence here. I

Yes, but will it do anything for the person I know who insists gluten makes his OCD worse?

I have a cockatiel who likes me, but is also obviously a small, ferocious seed-eating dinosaur.

I prefer the Original scent, but yes, I’m with you for the Old Spice love too.

Crazy Bitch Trope, yes. Thank you for naming what I was having difficulty describing.

Agreed. She’s sort of a parody of a certain type of woman. I do recall the episode of the Muppet Show guest starring Candice Bergen, where Miss Piggy took up the flag of feminism in honour of their guest star, but like most things on the Muppet Show, it was something of a joke.

To be honest, I often think Miss Piggy counts as a drag persona.

Oh, this.
