There was also Jesse's rehab, too. Everyone's medical bills probably ate up more than what went toward the car wash and Ted's IRS bill combined.

I have no joke here; I just like typing "flamsuit."

What I'm most curious about is the other 9 guys. Sure, Mike and Lydia might have a new income source, but what's the motivation for those 9 potential squealers to keep quiet?  They'd have to be on Walt's payroll, too. I'm guessing.

Now now, just because Steve Gomez is gaining hair while everyone else is losing it doesn't mean something sinister is going on.

You got that right. There's a reason she looks just like Gretchen.

But Gale was a libertarian caricature to get our sympathies, too, and I don't think their mantra is "corporations are bad." Your theory is interesting, though I personally think the series is going more for a "breakdown of the American family unit" kind of thing.

Yeah, he has to know. Walt Jr. was mentioning Hank visiting Gus at Los Pollos Hermanos and "just playing with the guy" which means he very likely was also just playing with Walt during that time.  And the look on his face when his superior was talking about having Gus over for a barbecue… Oh yeah, Hank has to know.

I agree. It was brought up during the interrogation to remind us of the "half measures" story, which we would then be thinking about as Mike ponders whether to kill Lydia or not.  His story is a direct parallel with Lydia; that he didn't kill her may indeed turn out to be a half measure.

Hey, now, Judgy Von Judgerstein. Simon could be remembering it from its original 1998 release, back when he was a wee lad with a crush on Drew Barrymore and, thus, having a very reasonable excuse for watching the film.

In the unedited pilot, you see the plaque saying Walt was a contributing scientist to Nobel-winning research. I want to know WHY Walt was drummed out of that business, and I don't think it was entirely because Gretchen's family was snobbish against him. There is a reason a man with his stellar experience and

Yes, it WAS a deliberate Mythbusters shout-out! I am vindicated!
