So when the cycle is done, they “dry” by using the residual heat in the dishes to cause the water on the dishes to evaporate off.

My only real advice is never buy the cheapest base model you can get. They usually don’t have an upper wash arm so it won’t get the dishes as clean. You may not need all the bells and whistles but that one is definitely something you need.

I’ve never had that issues. If there are some people on a group text that don’t have an iPhone it just sends the whole message via SMS. Perhaps they have the send SMS turned off?

Lower end dishwashers don’t have the upper wash arm and some I’ve seen it’s located on the very top of the dish washer, not under the top rack.
Yes and for things like milk and eggs and probably a bunch of other things, there’s no point in buying name brand.
