While I agree this building is pretty ugly, Downtown Brooklyn didn’t have much housing there before they re-zoned it. It was mostly commercial.

Well put it this way. They’re building this super tall building but it will have less housing than the buildings half the height just a couple blocks away. So it’s a legitimate question. Why build a super tall residential building if the extra height adds nothing to it?
If you’d actually been here you’d know that yes, we do have a lot of really nice looking buildings old AND new. In fact there are more interesting new buildings in the very neighborhood this ugly piece of shit is supposed to go. Toren and New York by Ghery are far more interesting buildings design wise.
I love it when people who don’t live here tell us what is and isn’t a good looking building. Honestly I think Toren a few blocks away has a more interesting design than this.
