Still impressive it lasted two months, and it may not have been the cause of his death.

Exactly, Republicans are happy to sell you the rope to hang yourself with. In this case, they’re happy to increase gas prices knowing it will help them in the midterms.
Well, in Next Gen when they travel back in time to Mark Twain-era Earth Guinan looks the same as she does when she’s tending on the Enterprise. You kinda have to address why she looks a bit older now when only 20-30 or so years have passed instead when a few centuries didn’t seem to affect her before.
That is the overwhelming sentiment, but people aren’t rational and Republicans will still blame Biden/Democrats for the high prices.
The overwhelming sentiment in the U.S. right now is that people want to help Ukraine. This is aimed at helping Ukraine. It will come with a cost.
Star Trek, even more so than Star Wars, has always used hand-waves papered over with pseudo-sci-fi exposition, so it was actually refreshing that they did that!
in Datas case I think initially no one knew if the show would go more than a season or two , where its not an issue . When TNG became a big thing and wasn’t going anywhere, they tried to work it in a few ways , like Juliana Trainer (aka Data’s* Mum) who (spoilers)...turns out to be an android created by Data’s…
I think Q aging himself to mock Picard is fine, but I agree Guinan didn’t need an excuse for looking older.
Aging is always a problem when you’re dealing with characters that aren’t supposed to age (vampires, robots...) in narratives that span multiple episodes/movies. I think it’s a bigger dilemma when you’re dealing with kids because a growth spurt will totally throw things off. (That tale of Walt in LOST, where the show…
I think your comment about the TOS actors getting older is a good one. TOS may have only had two more movies than TNG, but the TNG movies were done 8 years after the show finished, the first TOS movie didn’t come out until 10 years after the show ended—those actors were coming back regularly to play those characters…
What's funny is that's almost what Picard could have been until they forced him in to an otherwise fairly original crew.
I don’t remember whether I heard it or read it somewhere, but someone said Guinan’s explanation seemed clunky. I was fine with it as well.
Star Trek also has the luxury of a history of it’s Original Series characters getting older on-screen, and talking in the movies about how old they are getting.
Star Trek was the first genre franchise I can think of that really addressed the passage of time. Kirk in Wrath of Khan thinks he’s over the hill and his best days are behind him. As I get older, I can relate more readily to the movie’s themes.
Well, McDowell in Generations wasn’t exactly a spring chicken.
Star Trek also has the luxury of a history of it’s Original Series characters getting older on-screen, and talking in the movies about how old they are getting. Lifespans may be a little elongated in the Federation era, but they still are finite.
I like how she also preferences it with a “people get so weird when I don’t age that I decided to to make everyone else feel better.” That was so cool.
I kind of the liked the dumb throwaway line to explain why Guinan has gotten older despite her basically being an immortal El Aurian ‘Oh I just decided to look older’
This looks like it was a really difficult decision to make. My company -FMCG- is on it’s fourth price increase since 07/20. We’re ready to announce the next one.
They’ve done this (same stipulation...pre-order just gets you the place in line, not a locked-in price), albeit not with a 20% delta.
