They are, and they make a profit on that, most of the time. Each part that needs to be replaced has a value put on both in terms of physical cost, and in labor hours. A good mechanic can replace those parts in less time than is allotted, which helps them make money as well since they get paid piecemeal at most…

Good progress. It still needs at least 100 more miles range and the ability to charge to full in 5 minutes. THAT’S when it’ll be ready for prime time. Until then, it’s just a slightly better commuter and 2nd vehicle.
