This is not Chris Harris. This is the love child of Richard Hammond and Tiff Needell wearing a Chris Harris skin suit.

Bonus point for Radiohead intro music, though.

This was not Chris Harris. This was the love child of Richard Hammond and Tiff Needle wearing a Chris Harris skin suit.

I’m 33 and have been dreaming of retirement since I was 23. Good thing no one seems to ask me the “10 years” question at work.

Was going to post this. Worth the watch, despite the length.

Yup - I’ve loved the F355 since it came out (I was old enough to use the internet by myself and so AOL spent a lot of time on the Ferrari website), but it will forever be a car I’d like to drive and not own.

My GTI provides all of the driving pleasure most anyone would need, and then some. I owned a 981 Porsche

It’s not the like FJ-09's valve check interval is significantly longer...

As the owner of an MQB Golf GTI, I’d argue that the Golf drives like a more expensive Audi, rather than the Audi being a gussied up Golf. It’s an amazing platform. You are right, though, the TT, aside from the TT-RS, will just be a used car eventually.

Being a guy, I’m certainly far less sexualized than probably any female, but even I see pictures of myself in my riding gear and think, “damn, I look goooooood”.

I’m certain there are female riders who appreciate the anonymity of most riding gear, but I’m confident there are far more who want to look good in what

Agreed. I think it’s too much for one of these, but for what nice ones go for it’s in line for the market.

I bought a ‘64 XLCH in 2008-ish from the second owner who had it since ‘67. It was all hot-rodded and in nicer shape than this one, and overpaid for it (had to have it) for $4k. I could see $5-6k for a daily

Practice. Pick a manhole cover or pot hole and practice swerving around it, gradually going faster and swerving harder. Find an empty street and gradually work on increasing brake pressure to shorten stopping distances. These are the two skills you’ll need the most on the street.

Your dirt experience will help with

The last place I’d want to be as a new rider is in a group, especially a group of other new riders. I’ve been riding for 18 years and I still hate riding in groups - too many squirly people and your time & space margins get squashed. I do it 1-2 times a year just to see some people I don’t otherwise get to see (I

Mk Mk7 GTI has a couple electronic weirdness things with the infotainment system, but none are crippling and they all resolve themselves. Otherwise, it’s been rock solid for the year I’ve had it.

To be fair, you can’t buy a first year VW in North America... they always delay the release here. Mk7 Golfs went on sale in Europe in 2013.

Most cars are rated to tow 1000lbs, with the exception of some with aggressive suspension. Top gear Top Tip, often the U.S. owners manual will say towing is not recommended for a particular model, while the owner’s manual in other markets will give a rating, so with some digging you can figure out if there’s a gap

Your write up matches my impression of the Cruze sedan I had for a rental. A prefectly nice, well driving car, but by no means exciting. The interior impressed me, but I’d say the whole package still felt a notch or two lower than my Mk7 GTI in terms of fit and finish.

I’m taking a trip soon and looked at some options. I found a 2014 Porsche Boxster for $94/day and a Fiat 500 Abarth for $40/day... I’d say those are both bargains, especially if you were really interested in trying either of those cars or just wanted something fun for your trip.

Who decided to just phone it in for the wheels? Christ, those are bad...

The difference is the Focus RS is the nicest, topped out spec for that platform. The Golf, especially riding on the MQB platform, is the bottom spec car which is scaled up to be top spec Golfs, Jettas, A3s and TTs. That means the bones have to be in place to support driving as good as a $60k+ TT-RS or RS3 is

I want to say my first car loan payment was like $121/mo for a used Dodge Stratus. Then it went down to $75/mo (yes, really) for a used Thunderbird, and it crept up from there. I want to say my next car, which was my first new one, a Cobalt SS, was around $300/mo. Then the next one was a Mazdaspeed3 for $380/mo,

What alternate reality do you live in where used car loans have lower rates?
