Jason, there’s no need to go nuts over this. I know we’d all be screwed without the various types of fasteners in our cars, but this was hardly a riveting post. (Although, I will say that photo of the Spyker shows they really know how to nail an interior.) I realize you’re probably just trying to hit your quota so you

I don’t know if other cars have them, but certain Ford Focus from the mid-00's with PZEV emissions have “lifetime” air filter assemblies. People in it for the long term who service their own rides retrofit these with a Dorman solution, or use inexpensive universal “cold-air” intake parts if that’s their thing.

Want to know what else is an endemic problem in North America? People who think they should be able to do whatever the hell they want to and not have any consequences. Want fewer newsworthy police stories?  Give them a reason to be defunded, such as stop acting like a bunch of damn animals.

President Biden shares some blame. Cancellation of XL pipeline slows available world supply. Cancellation of of new Federal contracts and anti Fracking stance is a loss of future supply. The reality of no supply difference right now means little to the stock market which is forward looking.

Their idea of IEDs could be anything from sparklers still in the packaging to actual IEDs, though.

These are the same kind of people that say a bag of skittles are a lethal projectile weapon.

I want to know what the hell is Munro’s fascination with fasteners. Even if he “likes” something about the ID.4, he inevitably has to compare it to a Tesla part (or experience) and then tell you how it’s either worse than Tesla or just slightly less worse than Tesla. Because he has a hard time saying many positive

Man, I rail against this “threaded fasteners=bad” mentality. The plastic clip that doesn’t snap after 8 years of driving is rare in my experience. “People aren’t going to service this” feels like a very, very OEM perspective. Totally believe his reasoning on not liking threaded fasteners, but they sure feel worth it

I, also just a guy on the internet, agree with you completely.

I’ve watched a few of these and love the technical discussion, though I always feel like his hatred of the “parts bin” is a bit too idealistic maybe, in that he acts like it’s just laziness and money that drives parts bin engineering when there are as many reasons for it as there are against.

Surprised no one’s mentioned it yet, but towing it to the dealer is but one of three options....there’s also having it serviced in place (how many Ford dealers will?) but of bigger note is the “or following the provided instructions” option, which likely amount to “tighten the damn nuts”.

My mom’s friend had a Ford Fiesta with that Sync stuff and asked me once to pair her cellphone with it because she had to chance the battery and the system was reset. She asked me because I’m young and know everything about car and computers.

Governors (and presidents) don’t write or pass laws. They only get to decide whether to veto them or not.

Of course the guy in the passenger seat wasn’t driving. That’s ridiculous. It was a remote control truck. Kamala was really driving it from her desk in the Oval Office.

I drive until the car runs out. Then I pop the trunk, grab a plastic bag of gas, pour it into the tank/on my fender/on the ground, then drive to the nearest gas station. Easy.

Not if you’re that hero backhaul operator

The battery fire may have done $235k damage, but the damage done by the portrait video is incalculable.

Most EV owners are peak assholes themselves from experience regardless.  Not saying it’s right that he did it.  I award him two stars for how clever it was though.

Problem Description: Air bag malfunction indicator (MIL) illumination accompanied by diagnostic trouble codes B0001-1B or B0012-0D may result in a loss of air bag protection for the driver.

Communist thinking like this is keeping us from being great again. [crashes schoolbus while commenting]

Don't need a valid driver's license when the car's driving for you. That's just science.
