Such a misleading title. Electric cars did not get $12,500 cheaper, nor did they get $5,000 cheaper. All they did was shift the cost around making fellow citizens who can hardly afford their house payment help pay for your shiny new electric car.

Perhaps, if EPA regulations weren’t so strict.
Wow, BMWs still have that middle front row seat center dash look with a console shoved underneath.
I wanna see someone tow a 6000 lb boat up the boat ramp with their FWD Ridgeline.
IRS doesn’t seem to affect towing though on the Expedition, which is rated for more than the Tahoe.
Proportional brake lights please. Oh and don’t bother turning on the brake light unless the vehicle is actually decelerating.
Blame climate change.
The best way to get rid of a bad law is to enforce it heavily.
It might help your resale value. TDIs that haven’t been “fixed” may be a hot car in the future, assuming you don’t live in California or equivalent.
Or just don’t get the recall done.
That means they are good at marketing. Anything wrong with that?
I think OP is confused. EcoBoost is just a marketing term for a certain technology, or group of technologies. Like AVCS, AVLS, CVTCS, CVVT, DCVCP, MIVEC, N-VCT, S-VT, VANOS, VarioCam, VCT, VTEC, VVL, VVEL, VVT, VTVT, Sync, Blue & Me, BMW Assist, Blue Link, UVO, OnStar, SkyActiv, Ecotec, etc.
You are wrong. Thanks Volkswagen? No, thanks EPA. Quit blaming Volkswagen for the EPA’s absurd regulations.
Yep. The environment is more important than human life, kinda like spotted owls are more important than unborn children.
Do you know of any other diesel cars with the performance and fuel economy of VW TDI engines?
Have you ever thought that maybe demanding for high mileage and absurd cleanliness is not possible at this time?
What is wrong with a leatherman on your hip? It makes a great counterbalance to the concealed carry 9mm inside the waistband on the other hip.
I hope every single automaker is doing this in some fashion. It would be a real eye opener for the overly strict unelected regulators who write regulations all day long.
My recommendation: Get a used TDI, and do NOT get the recall done when it is available. Oh, and be sure you don’t live in a region where emission testing is required to register your vehicle.
This is one of the most brilliant moves by an automaker. I hope other automakers are already doing this, or do it in the future to improve MPG and performance.
