I agree completely. This made me nostalgic for my buddy’s old Jeep- it felt like we could tear down that whole thing with three or four wrenches. Now, our cars have so much plastic that I hesitate to change spark plugs. I’m ashamed.

Great article, I definitely think it is something a lot of new buyers need to think about. That said, I would just add that the apps (and certainly all dealers) I’ve used in the past also add in tax/title/license fees (about 10% in CA) which compounds (pun intended) the issue!

The most important part of a car in high school is actually being able to drive it. By that I mean, you need something that is relatively safe (so you survive the seemingly inevitable accident), decent fuel economy (so you can afford to drive it), inexpensive to insure (even if someone else is paying it now, that will

This guy was parked up against a curb/parking separation and the tow truck is just using this method to get out of the lot/ away from potential confrontation. Standard operating procedure.

He likely used this method to get away from a curb. Or the parking brake was set/car in neutral. If the latter, he’ll open the door, releases the parking brake, then pick the car up from the front (because the rear wheels are straight). Open your mind and think for one second before using that kind of language to put

That is a great choice! Hope it works well for you! I’ll keep it in mind during my next search!

I’m a big guy (6'6") with two medium dogs (160 lb. total) and the Subaru Forester has been the answer both times for me. The headroom/legroom in the Forester is unparalleled in its class (not based on measurement, based on test drives) and the back is very large- if you fold the back seats it is even bigger. Our 2017

How has no one said WRX? All the criteria are met. I’m seeing certified limited and premiums near him with around 25k miles on them in his price range. Boom.

Am I the only one who saw this?

I know I’m late to this one, but, I’m pretty sure your “experts” are all on drugs. This is one of those times where you say, “I know you don’t want a Subaru...but Subaru.” OR “Have you thought about moving off of a ranch? Out of the snow? Going to MOAB less frequently? If so, then the cloth-top of a Wrangler won’t be

This is a full legal-limit above Michael Floyd (approx). Michael Floyd was .217, this guy was a .28. “Super Drunk” in MI is above .17. He knows better. In a Police vehicle no less. UGH.

It might be that I don’t value the “luxury” components, but I don’t read anything above that sets this that far from my $21k Camry SE (talk about “just a car!”) Camry is 5 Star Safety rated 4 cylinder that is big and comfortable and goes zero to sixty in about 8 seconds. If I needed bigger and cushier, I might lean

This may be the most NYC crime ever. He wasn’t even planning to steal a million dollars of gold leaf. The opportunity presented itself during his morning commute and he was “Might as well!” Amazing.

For the cost of most of the other suggestions you can have both! He has two different sets of needs/wants. Instead of compromising completely on everything, do everything well!

I don’t disagree, but if I’m selling something that I think is sold fairly at $100, I’ll post it for $120, and probably take $80 in cash if someone puts it in my hand. If you pay $80,spend $10-15, and hold on for $100 on the backside, that’s the balance I think is still feasible and what should be reached for!

Ha, nope, this was in 2003. He’s probably still living in his parents basement bullying 5th graders on WOW.

He was trying to argue his way out of being “written up” with the RA- trying to tell her I started it. The police arrived pretty quickly, and I think that’s when he realized he was in real trouble. As you can probably tell he wasn’t very bright and didn’t have his wits about him.

I think the warranty policy is holding you back. For the same reasons it protects you from pitfalls, it is stopping you from real “finds” that would allow your “monthly payment” to be negative.

A friend of mine died this way. It is really sad that we are still taking unnecessary risks. Even when I’m on the side of the road, without jack stands, I slide the off tire under the frame and avoid going under it. Glad he seems like he will recover, but we all need to spread the word about the real danger this
