I’m the kind of person who prefers fewer really close friendships so I know how big a loss it can be to lose someone and how it can make you doubt yourself. I think there’s a whole narrative that friends will always be there for you and it’s not really recognised how much it sucks when they let you down and that some

I’m so sorry you’re going through that, she sounds like a shitty friend. If she feels you need to be more supportive of her recovery, why isn’t she more supportive of yours? It sucks when we grow apart from people but sometimes you learn that what you had in common wasn’t the fundamental important shit you need from a

Yeah we’re devout Catholics who don’t have birth control we don’t know our own laws so let an internet commenter who doesn’t know them either lecture us on how we’re allowed to feel about things.

Yeah I never thought I’d tire of complaints about Ireland’s draconian abortion laws, I went to an academic conference about the X case in my spare time but I’m sick to the back teeth of being told we aren’t doing enough or it’s our fault when nobody under 50 has actually gotten to vote on allowing abortion.

As you can see from how the votes went urban areas are more liberal and have more job opportunities than rural areas. Obviously Dublin is the capital but any city big enough to have a university will probably be to your liking.

I think most people would support abortion in cases of rape, fatal foetal abnormality and health of the mother at risk, and I would happily accept that. It’s unfortunate for those who need abortions for other reasons but we can donate money to help them get to England while Irish people get used to it being none of

We get it, believe me we get it. It’s just every post on this has had commenters saying Ireland is backwards and then cited out of date “facts” and that we can’t celebrate marriage equality because of the shitty abortion laws. It would be like if America was celebrating something and all the other nationalities left

It’s going to be like when that documentary aired on BBC3 and they’ll be on the radio saying their daughter/cousin etc is married and is trying so long to get pregnant so how is it fair that someone in different circumstances have different feelings. There’ll be a lot of it’s not the baby’s fault the daddy is a rapist

Why the fuck do 5th year students have to do a religion exam in the first place? Whoever set that exam is in trouble.

Yeah abortion on demand is going to be said a million times a day, and look at all the happy single mothers and is the one parent family payment not enough for you. Loads of talk of dead babies and precious little about the Kerry babies case and other horrors that shouldn’t be allowed to happen again.

It was amazing that there was only one no and that Donegal said yes as they’re usually the most conservative county.

Yeah we’re luckier in the bigger cities we still have employment opportunities here, the West has not been as fortunate. I was just hoping some more of the older people would have gotten less conservative over time.

I’m from Cork there was a huge buzz here over the weekend, I was hoping the referendum results would be closer to two thirds yes overall but Connacht kind of let us down.

The first victory against the hardline Catholics had to be something like equal marriage but now that it’s been proven that it can be done we can forge ahead on abortion, it was a crucial first step.

I hadn’t clicked through to the full article when I posted my previous comment, he was just allowed to amend his existing suit to claim there was an oral agreement about the embryos which has now been breached. It’s reasonable that a judge would hear that, I thought he was presenting the idea that because he changed

Thanks for the clarification, that makes way more sense. That’s what I get for not clicking through to the article.

2 English women who started fertility treatment with eggs harvested before chemotherapy lost their court case to be able to implant the embryos after their relationships broke down despite the fact that those embryos were their only chance of having biological children. Nick Loeb isn’t in an anywhere near situation to

I still think it’s shocking a judge would think he has a case, they have a contract and I don’t think he has a strong argument as to his entitlement to Sofia’s genetic material against her will.

That ruling is insane I hope there’s a higher court that can be appealed to.
