I missed the Sportsnet/TSN rundown this morning morning because of these fantastic games last night, but can someone tell me if they followed the leafs with the BJs? They almost came back to win with a grand slam in the eighth! They almost won! That’s a huge Toronto Sports Story.

Underrated good-as-hellness: the pure formality that was the first round of the NBA Eastern Conference playoffs is over.

As a Saints fan, I empathize with the Knights.

I don’t think Eakin should’ve gotten a five minute major, but I also don’t think Vegas got screwed or that the result was stolen. I could see it called two ways that would’ve been justified.

All jokes about the OKC meltdown aside, I don’t really understand why listing Lillard’s small sample stats this series from 30-34 feet is relevant at all on a contested 37 foot shot. 3 more feet even from 34 to 37 is a huge difference. Seems pointless here.

This jabroni named himself Playoff P and won three playoff games in two years. The most studio gangster team in the league takes the L. You hate to see it.

How do you expect good judgment from a guy who signed the final big contract of his career before free agency opened to stay in OKC with Russ, rather than taking meetings with any number of other teams in free agency—Philly, Lakers, Nuggets—that would’ve given him a better chance of winning a championship?

I don’t know about that. Yea, maybe the call was too severe. But I just can’t get past the fact that the Knights were the ones who gave up 4 power play goals not to mention blowing a 3-1 series lead. It never should have gotten to a game 7. I’ve seen tons of teams kill off a 5 minute major. I’ve seen tons of teams try

It probably should have been a minor, but if you are going to complain about the NHL penalizing the result instead of just the foul, you better go back in time about 20 years and start then.

Yes. Also even if you shorthanded for 5 minutes you are still allowed to stop the other team from scoring 4 goals.

Having paid no attention to this series, yeah...blowing a 3-1 series lead and then giving up four goals at a rate of one goal per minute in the third period of a Game 7 is typically not getting screwed. It’s imploding.

It’s the NHL playoffs, teams are the beneficiaries of bad calls, and also the victims, and so it goes. Maybe next time don’t allow 4 goals in one 5-minute major PP. 🤷‍♂️

they also gave up 4 goals on a 5min PP. That is horrendous. I think the call was legit. Not an easy one to make, but wtf was Eakin doing with his stick off the face off anyway?

I’ve been watching hockey longer than most* of the players on the ice last night have been alive, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a team score four goals on a five-minute power play. VGK can bitch all they want about whether or not that should have been a major, but holy shit, win a faceoff or clear the zone once in

Yes. Let’s focus on the SINGLE wrong call of the entire playoff series. Or if you insist on focusing on this call, let’s focus on the game 2 goalie interference call that took a goal away and the game for the sharks. So you can have your 2 minute cross checking minor penalty, and I’ll say the sharks won in 6. Deal?

Counterpoint:

Yes, it’s an unusual injury from a cross-check. But if a cross-check results in a serious injury, the player who committed the violation needs to be ejected. That’s the chance a player takes when he puts another player in peril by committing a penalty.

In only their second season! Some teams wait decades to finally get screwed in the playoffs.

You got screwed in the playoffs.  Congratulations, you’re officially an NHL franchise.

First off, big ups to this man for unintentionally predicting the hero of game 7. Second of all, this was the most insane Sharks (and possibly hockey) game I’ve ever seen in my life. Finally, I think Sharks-Knights has officially become a rivalry after this series.
