It is never a safe or good idea for a bicyclist to blow a red light or stop sign. That is most of the issues right there. What if a car did it? Is that safe?
Blowing through traffic stops, no matter your rational, is not allowed and you can be ticketed just like a car. Bike riders want respect and safety, but so many of them shirk the traffic laws that they are required to follow just like a motor vehicle.
I’m a pretty dedicated casual bicyclist, riding maybe 20 miles in a weekend when it’s nice, and 16-24 miles throughout the work-week, in a combination of urban street traffic and protected walking/running/biking trails in a national park.
