Rivian - late 2020
GM - late 2021
Tesla - “nearing production in late 2021" - i.e. 2022

Ford’s seems to be a re-skinned Rivian, and was seen doing trucky things several months ago. I’m going with mid-2021

The animation of most of Ford’s 150kW & 350kW charger network, as it grew from 18 months ago to 6 months ago.

Chevy Dolt?

GM say that their e-truck will be on sale in late 2021.
GM tend to be pretty good at estimating schedules.

Tesla say that their e-truck will “near production” in “late 2021"
Tesla tend to be bad at schedule estimation. And count the production prototyping as “production”. (qv Model 3 July 2017 sales)

The cover is a roller-shutter.

The bed is about 5' wide, and is said to be 6' 6" long.

“production of the Cybertruck is claimed to begin in late 2021,”
That’s not what Tesla says.
Tesla says it willnear production in late 2021 [my emphasis]”
That sounds to me like production begins in early 2022.

2012, 2013 “for sure”

This panel rolls up small and provides 11kW,
aka 30 - 44 miles per hour for a Tesla Model X.

I don’t see how the roller-shutter could operate with that solar array in place.
It looks good for about 6 to 10 miles per day - perhaps not quite enough to escape the Moab quickly.

Oooh- an Espace mated with a Hummer H2!

You can probably fit a really big roll-up solar array in the back of a Cybertruck.

If you had a $ for every quarter they’ve lost money, you’d have many dollars.

If you had a dollar for every vehicle they sold at an average loss of $10k, you’d have enough $ to buy loads of Cybertrucks

The Tesla website says that it will approach production in late 2021.

Model 3 began “production” on Q2 2017, but didn’t start mass production until Q2/Q3 of 2018.

In 2009, the Model 3 was promised in 3 years’ time, 4 tops.

It started production in Q2 2017.

It looked like it had 3" to 5" of clearance down the side of the quadbike - so the bed is maybe 8" wider than the quadbike?

It turns out, it’s 3 years away from mass production.

“production nears in late 2021". In Tesla speak, production nearing is when they start their 6 months of production prototyping, and selling trickles of the production prototypes to staff members. With actual mass production starting about 6 to 12 months after that.

It needs to be easy to manufacture in as many ways as possible - because mainly they’re about to attempt to weld together big slabs of weird stainless steel alloys.

Marcello Gandini made wedges that looked good. Why would he be pleased with this?

Because it shows off how truly difficult it is to do what he did?

It has a roller shutter over the bed.

I have no coffee left to drink now. You deserve more stars.
