You *can* carry a big roll-up of solar cells on a plastic backing. That can get you a save-your-battery charge, or a get-back-to-a-socket charge.

How soon is now?
The carbon is already more expensive. The expenses are in flood and storm repair, flood prevention works, etc. Carbon pricing/carbon taxes are a means of meaking these hidden negative externalities less hidden, and more readily incorporated into purchasing decisions.
When you say “The only solution is..” I think you…
Tesla has only US 654 Supercharger locations live today (2019-06-11)
I was only reporting US Fast and High Power locations for the other networks.
So the correct comparison figure for Tesla is the number of US Supercharger locations - 654.
There are already palces on Earth where they produce too much renewable, zero-carbon energy to make use of it all. So they’re electrolysing water to create hydrogen as an energy store. And now they have too much hydrogen to be able to use it all.
Expect other places to follow suit in the coming years.
Green hydrogen is…
It’s not necessarily better, but for the rate of change we need, and because lithium extraction only ramps up slowly, both BEVs and H2EVs are going to be needed to get the switch to happen fast enough.
I sat in one of them on Sunday. The production-prototype of the RiverSimple Rasa, as they gear up for the initial production run. Small, lithe, carbon-fibre, four wheel hub motors, and designed as a Mobility-as-a-service play.
The BMW-JLR tie-up makes sense.
The BMW drive i-series drive units are 98kW, 125 kW (168 bhp), and 137 kW (184 bhp). The I-Pace drive units are 149kW.
It’s also a little known fact that Jaguar scooped up a lot of the BMW battery team, after BMW’s started to let the i-series cars languish.
Yep, I agree. Nissan “doesn’t have that sort of cash lying around”
Yes, economies of scale applies to what you describe - it also applies to manufacturing and design efficiencies which are generated by doing the thing itself. And increases in productivity that come from experience. It is also often considered to include the spread of marketing costs over a larger production base.

Re-inventing Aston Martin with the Aston Martin DB7.
Re-inventing Jaguar with the XJ, and then again with the I-Pace.
What a guy.
I guess they are not replacing him from within, given Wayne Burgess has just newly gone to Geely.
They don’t seed the market. And the more limited seeding they do do happens years after the much stronger seeding done by new cars.
Why not “Selfies”. Or “Selfish” ?
Or “Elf Toss”?
It’s much harder to faceplant on a bike, compared to a scooter. And even more annoying to leave bikes lying scattered and strewn around the streets, than scooters.
Arg. “wingeing”, not “winging”
Are you laughing at the concept? Or laughing at the possibility of applying them to EV and EV componentry?
(Battery prices have already dropped by an order of magnitude, for example)
We need to prime the pump. Before Newark is underwater, swathes of Jacksonville, most of coastal Louisiana, California between SF and…
Ah... Ty.
4th gear: I know! Why doesn’t Nissan just buy its way out of the Alliance?
Maybe it remembers that it turned itself into a complete financial wreck when it was on its own, and doesn’t have that sort of cash lying around anyway. And knows that it could never afford to cover the debt if it took out a loan.
I suppose…
It’s not possible to get trucks too big.
Truck-driving poseurs wont be happy until they have a Denali the size of a semi-.
