Yep - like Ford getting Seat to build the Ford Galaxy on the Seat Alhambra/VW Sharan line, on their chassis.

I’m assuming that’s the conversation Tesla had with both Toyota and Mercedes.  They question is, what did Tesla do both Mercedes and Toyota to make them both up sticks and walk?
