Well, Retta was a pretty good stand-up. At least I remember her being pretty good when I saw her on Comedy Central in the late 90s. I'm not surprised at how much she crushes it on this show.

Also, Asylum of the Daleks established that their experiences with The Doctor are part of what made the Daleks so dangerous. If that's the case, I can't imagine why he wouldn't be happy that they've forgotten about him.

It's reminiscent of Nixon's black Secret Service agent last season.

That's surprising. The budget has actually been cut every season for three seasons now. I remember hearing a bit about how excited they were to switch to new cameras and lenses in season five that they thought would let them get a much more filmic look, and for the most part I thought that that new look covered up…

Too soon?
Well then, @avclub-5171864ab150444a2bcff2d4c52d3064:disqus , we're gonna fight, because I'd still put A LINK TO THE PAST or LINK'S AWAKENING at the top of the heap.
Laphroaig, myself.
Also on that note, I'm still not entirely convinced that Barney and Robin are going to end up together, if only because the two actors really have almost no chemistry (and because while Robin has shown definite signs of still harboring feelings for Barney since the middle of last season, Barney's feelings for Robin…
I was sure that Vanilla Sky was going to come up in the discussion of Tom Cruise, as that movie leverages his above-mentioned persona, using him rather than showcasing him. I was glad to see it mentioned later, and Ryan made a really good point about the way she veers so sharply into territory most actresses who have…
Method isn't an automatic assurance of quality. There are PLENTY of crap-tastic method actors. I'd wager that the ratio is probably equal to any other school of acting. Method just gets so much attention because it's easier to understand and because, let's face it, method actors do some crazy stuff.
I first saw JEDI when I was in my early teens in the mid-to-late 90s. I'm completely ambivalent about Ewoks.
Marshall's awkward presentation seemed like a stand-up bit because it was him slipping back into his awful open-mic-night standup bit about how oddly named fish are. We've seen it a few times the past few years.
Absolutely, @avclub-d6c26700b89b2a6cab6bce1dfb01f9ad:disqus . I couldn't understand why she was in it.
You're in for a treat if you start with Season 5. There are only a handful of episodes from older seasons that are required viewing. If you search my comment history, I listed them out on September 12.
So, we got the Doctor sauntering around the universe like a cowboy, a vague Indiana Jones reference, Doriam as Jambie, and ended with the Doctor going all Batman and lurking in the shadows. Geek overload much?
Couldn't agree more.
