Ive done some long drives in this car.. believe it or not, once you are accustomed to it, its not fatiguing to drive long distances. Its relatively softly sprung, and there is some meat to the tires. The car is so little the lack of power “stuff” isn’t a big issue. A modern car is definitely more comfortable, but this…
Yes, the miata seats are a great option and they readily fit in the GT6; they add more height but they also recline unlike the Lotus seats. I went with the Lotus seats because I liked the look and knew the design would trim out in a fabric insert a bit nicer.
I had to look this up.. it might. The bed is 63.5" wide on an F250.. the triumph is 57" wide; the triumph is 147" long with a 83.8" wheelbase.. the regular bed length is 97".. so it might fit with the gate down.
Im only 5'8" and its close to my head.. maybe with the original seats leaned way back it could be possible if you are very lean and contort yourself into the car.
It is the original “Royal Blue” Triumph color. (the car was resprayed at some point so its relatively close to the original, anyway)
Given all the MKV Supra hate and that no car could live up to the “legend”.. maybe it would sell better as a Triumph!
Thanks!
You can do some things to make it more manageable. This car I have completely redone the electrical, so that is no longer a (major) issue. The motorcycle carbs are also a lot more consistent (keep in mind motorcycle carb tech development continued along way after cars went to fuel injection)
Yes they are. Although the top of the fiberglass shell was cut down a few inches before retrimming them so they would fit within the car. Triumph guys use Miata seats.. Miata guys use Lotus Elise seats.. you can see now where the idea came from..
I drive when the weather permits. It’s not a daily driver but it is driven when the opportunity presents itself.
I’m “the owner”.. It was great sharing the car with the Jalopnik crew! If anyone has any specific questions I’ll keep an eye out here.
The irony here is BMW owns the Triumph name..
This. When they “broke off” from BMW development.. that means BMW did all the work and Toyota checked in when they were needed a few years later. This is a Z4 reskin, with some cost save measures to get the price point down.
“Will this be the time Cadillac eventually gets its shit together?”
What about 2 side-opening hinges?
Talk about phoning-it-in. It’s a shame GM, in general, doesn’t have the attention span to really see things through in a long term sense the way European and Asian companies do. Cadillac had such design momentum about a decade ago.. if it kept it up and refined it the brand would be in a very different place than…
