It’s hard to understate how much we’ll miss Tyler. He’s not only clearly one of the most knowledgable, insightful, and smartest reporters we know, he’s also a great guy. When he first joined on he was one of the few people I could count on to help me out on weekends, and one of the few people I could go to with my

Right on! We’ll follow you anywhere. I read your work all through high school and college, and I just got into flight school for the USMC on a pilot slot. I have this goal to contribute to a piece for you one day.

Nice to hear this from you! Good luck with the new post, but I think you’ll have more than a few of us following close behind to the next location.

Very well put. Thank you. It’s about the office, not the occupant.

I'm well aware of how serious we take ourselves.

Confidence is a hell of a weapon.

Oh shut the hell up. You’ve probably never served. While I personally like President Obama, whenever we salute a senior officer or superior it is a mark of respect for the office. I didn’t like Bush, but I saluted him because I respect the office, even though the man did stuff I didn’t like. Any service-member who

Not according to The Chicago Style Sheet which they go by.

He’s got two arms and legs.

Marine or Marines is always capitalized.

Plus you won't be playing steam very long while you are on the other side of the world with your internet link and I'm in your living room with a sledge hammer.

You don’t use a tank like you would an unmanned aerial vehicle. Tanks operate in conjunction with other tanks and armored elements, they’re not just sole vehicles operating by themselves. Not if they want to stay alive very long, anyway. So now you need to have a large mobile nerve center with command and control

In an open, flat desert this may be a relevant capability for infantry patrols around a forward base or even as a scout platform for advancing ground units. Although UAVs could do both of those jobs just as effectively or better due to their wider field of vision.

An unmanned airplane doesn’t have hills blocking signals to and from the control shack, nor the canopy of trees in a forest or the buildings along the streets to block a satellite link. That’s why you can fly a drone from thousands of miles away. An unmanned tank rolls at an altitude of zero, or even less if it goes

Did you read Tyler’s article? The point is, it’s easier to keep a UAV at 50,000 feet in view of satellite communications than a baby tank driving around a city street. Try driving around a city while keeping a view of the southern sky. There are places you won’t be able to go.

Steam requires, ultimately, a landline connection. How far is your Steam computer from a wall plug? Not to mention the fact that your computer isn’t actively moving within/around objects that will attenuate the wireless signal.

We were fighting two countries at the same time. Also,Do the words Lend/Lease mean anything to you? Without the U.S. you'd be speaking German by now.
