Shit. Someone should sew them back onto his creepy shaky wrists…

Fair enough. Seems to equate to most police work in this country.

This feels a bit redundant in a True Detective thread, but I'd recommend Thomas Ligotti's Conspiracy Against the Human Race. I've read it twice now—once before Season 1 and once after—and I felt more moved the second time. Nihilism is really about a fundamental belief that all existence is without purpose.

I only want to comment because I can't thumbs up multiple times.

I'm more interested in McAdams than anyone at this point. I think her character's verdict on VelcroMan was accurate. He's not compromised, he's burnt out. Rachel McAdams, as an actress, has always erked me in a way that reminds me of how I thought of Mcconaughey before Season 1, Mud, and Dallas Buyers Club—dumb

living to be mere than 25 years old is a Simpsons reference. The yellow is king…

I read Galveston once around the time it was published and I really liked it but I felt like it was kind of overhyped, which sounds weird considering how much more hyped and divisive he eventually became. Lehane was touting it as amazing, I read a few things before it came out where people were calling him the next

Yes Between Here and the Yellow Sea is his collection of short stories and honestly it's a lot better than Galveston. I read a lot of detective and crime fiction and I thought Galveston was cool because it used a lot of those tropes but didn't actually have a detective or investigator at all. If you're not already

I can't defend that specific line of dialogue (in my opinion it's been the only instance this season when it got quite so unforgivably bad) but I think the overall fan criticisms of this season are overblown. I know it's not hip to give this season a shot but I've read both of Pizolatto's books and I really don't

I've stopped differentiating between good and bad casting.

And so it came to pass that Mary drank herself to death, politely.

It is my strong suspicion that we get the show we deserve.

Truth Well Told!

When the husband came out to his car and tried to talk to him about Jesus I laughed a little because it's hard to imagine Don Draper buying into any religion. Now I'm terrified that it might actually end that way.

Now You See Me: The Second Act? Please, the franchise is obviously getting stale. They should just do a reboot already.

Sylvia Plath. That would be a hoot!

Alan Ginsberg. If they make a new cult obsessed with Beat poets and they start wearing black turtlenecks and sunglasses while singing hare krishna and murdering people I may actually actively or somewhat willingly watch it.

I don't know. I live with someone that insists on "hate-watching" it every week when there are new episodes. It's consistently and exponentially awful but its just never the kind of bad that I would want to watch. Kevin Bacon even looks frustrated and disgusted with the dialogue as he's spewing it.

Ugh. I hope they're giving him a shitload of money. I thought this show had ratings…
Nevermore!

I'm a fan of nerds/sports crossover jokes.
