He didn't discuss the arrest but Father Guido's big interview question, after hemming and hawing that Paul was probably sick of the question but as a journalist he felt he had to ask it, was (great left turn) what animal would he most like to be?, and Paul's answer was, a koala bear, so he could spend all day eating

Yes, McCartney was listening to, studying, contributing to and creating electronic music way way before (I'm guessing anyway) this reviewer was born.

I am so in the minority around here, the consensus seems almost unanimous that Ram and McCartney II are way up on the list of Paul's best post-Beatles albums, but not on mine. Besides the obviousy and maybe-really-universally-agreed-on Band on the Run, my favorites include Flowers in the Dirt, Back to the Egg and Run

And also that she and her musician friend had been moonlighting on a sort of musical side project.

Good point, plus the Beatles were well established as primarily a vehicle for Lennon/McCartney songs, it's what the vast majority of fans and record buyers would have expected and wanted. Just because George started writing more songs wouldn't have meant that they were somehow obligated to give him an equal number of

Even this seemingly minor by-the-numbers pop throwaway (a smash and a radio staple for the next fifty years and counting!) had the very inventive fade-in for the intro. They always strived for innovation and to bring out the very best of their songs in putting them on record.

There are a couple of tiny details of songcraft that I admire enormously in Eight Days a Week (which was exciting to hear McCartney use as the opener for his tour this year, first time he'd played it out since '66). It's two separate extremely small details which just because of their placement give the song a

Several pages of commentary about John Lennon and no one has mentioned what I think was one of his best and most endearing qualities, his razor-sharp sense of humor and especially his love of and amazing creativity with words and the English language.  Not only in his two books of wacked-out prose poetry (basically

Howcum the new Elton John album hasn't gotten reviewed here?

The Stray Observations spoiled the line that got the biggest laugh of the episode from me, just that terrible-but-actually-pretty-clever pun on Thelonius Monk, that seemed completely shoehorned in like someone thought of it and wrote the whole scene just to get to it.

I like Wings as much as the next guy but this wasn't that good.

Good flick.

"Even-pithier-named" doesn't work at all!  You'd have to give in and accept an additional word, but as a consolation prize you would lose the hypens; the only good solution would have been "even more pithily named" which really isn't so bad.

Well one qualitiative difference between the two shows (and I liked Lost as much as the next guy, found it more of a guilty pleasure really, exciting/entertaining but empty calories) is that Breaking Bad isn't completely dumb and silly.

And the Larry Sanders Show, one of the all time great comedies IMO.  HBO has long been the "king of comedy" for my money with series like Larry Sanders, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Comeback, Girls, Veep, Mr. Show, Extras, etc., and their hour-long standup specials with so many of the greats.

Aren't they also pretty well known here for Black Coffee In Bed, Pulling Mussels From a Shell, If I Didn't Love You, Anne Get Your Gun, etc/, maybe Hourglass to a lesser extent?  I love all their stuff, what great writing.  Tempted is nothing to sneeze it, really well-written/performed/produced just musically,

But would those be considered 'back to back"?, that's the part that sounded odd to me.

I'm not a big sports guy, does the NBA only have championships once every ten years?

"At least two or three times a year I find myself holding court about Don Henley" is a very funny line, but yet again this series always seems to feature extremely easy targets.  Who wouldn't hate this song?

"they even insisted the album be sped up a bit to increase the tempo" - um, yep, that would do it.
