Most of the jeans in my current rotation are Citizens of Humanity, not so much because they fit me better than other brands, but because I found certain cuts (wide-leg) that I like. I've been buying them off of eBay for cheap because they're no longer considered trendy. I've also had success with Paige Premium, Seven

I am not looking forward to having to find pants that not only fit me in the hips but in the waist. I think I'll continue buying the same cut of pants I've been buying for years off of eBay.

I'm an old who is a fan of flare- or trouser-cut pants. The past few years—with jeggings/leggings/skinny jeans being in style—I've relied on eBay. The positive is that I've been able to score some high-quality jeans for low prices because I don't care about being caught in a pants fit that is several years old.

I know, I don't understand how this isn't a problem for everyone.

What a great idea. I've heard of people taking "therapy" dogs to schools. Kids with reading difficulties are encouraged to practice their reading while sitting with the dogs, who are obviously completely nonjudgmental.

Thanks for sharing! My intention is to have a dog one day, when I have the space and time and money. And a cat, because of all the cat photos on Reddit. I'd also like to try having a rat (I had pet mice when I was a kid). Hopefully all my future pets get along with each other though I know individual personalities

My favorite might be the 14-sec. mark or so, after the nut falls onto the carpet, and the dog and squirrel both put their noses to it. I imagine the dog's almost apologetic that he couldn't accommodate the squirrel.

Aww … any pics you can share? Sounds adorable.

So sorry to hear that happened to your aunt. I wish her the best in locating her child.

That is so sweet. I wonder if your gram was thinking girl = does not eat so much, boy = bigger appetite, or if she's just thinking about the ingredients for a recipe.

That's some great hair. Artfully tousled.

That's awesome. I've a trove of handwritten letters that I've saved from throughout the years. It's such a different experience going through them versus rereading old email.

I like her even more now for her lovely, quirky handwriting.

I went on a similar binge a few years ago. Might have started with The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. I particularly loved Kafka on the Shore. I'll get to 1Q84 eventually. I expect to enjoy it as much as Murakami's other books, so I'm saving it for a vacation, when I know I'll have hours to read and can bring just one book

The Sparrow is on my to-read list, incidentally because of a recommendation by an io9 commenter!

OK, currently reading Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer:

I'm also renting a place that's across from a cemetery, though I get a family-and-friends discount. I was actually under the impression that some houses next to cemeteries sell for higher because buyers know they won't have to deal with a noisy neighbor! I prefer living next to a cemetery for that reason alone. The

Interesting. I remember a commenter on Gawker saying that he, and many Americans he knew, were working abroad specifically to escape student loan debt. Don't recall the logistics of that—if you "disappear," does the debt not get transferred to a next-of-kin or only if that person co-signed the loan?—but that depressed

The Dismemberment Plan called it "doing the standing still" in one of their songs. Brilliant.

Yeah, I can just imagine Michelangelo berating the poor servant for getting something wrong. "That's obviously a drawing of fennel soup, not some other soup!"
